Cops for Cancer Shave-Off at The Salon

On Friday June the 1st The Salon and Cloud Nine Aesthetics at 317 9th St. East in Owen Sound will be holding a hairy fundraising party. Festivities begin at 4pm with live music presented by Undercurrent, a bake sale and a Barbeque, and of course the hair will fly. Your faithful correspondent will be there to finally follow through on his recurrent promise to take the clippers to his pate. Now rather than just shaving my head because it’s cheaper then getting Mr. Jimmy to do it for me, I’ll shave it to help research prevention and cures for cancer in children. According to the Cops for Cancer events in the Bluewater area website this focus on children’s cancer is unique to our area. Another noteworthy tidbit on the site is the chart indicating that since 1997 our area has raised $1,867,968 for the cause. Way to go Bluewater district!

They are looking for people to help out by offering their hair to the sacrificial clippers, donating baked goods for the bake sale or making a donation for the raffle table.
