Checking the Pulse of the Sound

May 23, 2007

theOwen.com is so very impressed with this little city of ours. This place is positively humming with action; a quick look at our Events Calendar or our Live Music Listings will prove incontrovertibly that if you find life in this town boring it’s not really about the city. Consider this a friendly call to action and hopefully you will find yourself stoked to live in such a special place. If you’re inspired to get out and see what’s happening in town then the next course of action will be for you to check out those calendars and plan a few activities for yourselves and your families.

Of particular interest you may notice that Thursday May 24th has several great activities happening. There is a book launching happening at the Downtown Bookstore, 945 2nd Ave East Owen Sound. John Britt will be reading from his new book, “Maggie’s Day” at 7 p.m. Those with a nose for literature will doubtless want to get involved.

Also on Thursday the Bruce-Grey Owen Sound Green Party is holding it’s nomination party. Open to all regardless of political affiliations, this is great opportunity to hear Shane Jolley’s vision of a sustainable community and transparent democracy. The evening will include a brief presentation on climate change by Green Party of Ontario Deputy leader, Victoria Serda, and a word from Green Party of Ontario leader, Frank DeJong. All are welcome to attend, but only members of the BGOS Green Party of Ontario are eligible to vote for a candidate. Memberships can be taken out at the meeting for $10.00.

The OSCVI Footlights club is presenting “Guys and Dolls” on both Thursday night and Friday. The shows are taking place at the OSCVI auditorium and begin at 7 p.m.

But wait! We haven’t even started on the Live Music Listings yet! On Thursday we have two options up on the Listing. You fans of live music can get your fill by checking out the Queen’s Bush Bluegrass Club at the Owen Sound Legion starting at 7:30 p.m. or you can also check out Doug Downey live at Jazzmyn’s starting at 8 p.m.

So don’t be bored! Get out there and get involved! It’s fun I tell you! Take care Owen Sound!!

Sincerely,
~Adam~
