“Music for Toilets” - Electric Eclectics 2007
June 26, 2007
As part of this year’s Electric Eclectics event creative sound installations will be put into various area coffee shop washrooms, including Ulrike (Josh Richardson)’s piece. Ulrike’s sound installation “Waterworks” will be open from this Sunday, July 1st to August 5th in the washrooms of the Espresso Post Cafe in Collingwood, Ontario, as part of the 2nd Annual Electric Eclectics Festival. The sound installation consists of a single drop of water, which is overdubbed repeatedly, eventually building into a heavy rainstorm. It is intended both to act as a kind of auditory hallucination, making the listener believe there is a leak somewhere in the washroom, and a meditation on the many individual water droplets that go into the making of one rainstorm.
