We Love Bikes!

Bikes On the Stand

On Monday evening my girlfriend Lauren, our friend Andrew and I biked down to the Meet & Greet tent for the Beckett Family show. We had a great time at the show and when we had enough we biked along the inner harbour and then up main street to theOwen.com’s headquarters, located in the old Golden Dragon building at 916 2nd Ave. East (stop in for a visit!). At the office we set up a computer with a couple of microphones. Andrew pulled out his beauty of an acoustic guitar and we recorded four or five of his original songs live off the floor. While we were recording my boss and dear friend Ryan quietly stuck his face against the office window. After an amazing recording session we looked out on the street at our four bicycles piled haphazardly against the bike stand and as our gaze lifted from tires to handlebars we had a collective moment of sublime bike appreciation. Ryan took a photo to mark the moment and now we’re passing it along hoping to inspire you to ride your bike to work tomorrow.

Cruisers!

This ramble reminds me of an upcoming monthly event of interest to all you raggle taggle hepcat bicycle riders with hockeycards laundry pinned to your rides to make an engine sound. If costumes, picnics in the park, funky old bikes and ecologically sustainable means of transport are your thing then you will not want to miss Owen Sound’s second in a monthly series of bike cruises. The Cruiser rides are held on the second Monday of every month with funky riders meeting at the government boat launch in the northern end of the Bayshore Community Centre back parking lot. We meet between 6:30 and 7 p.m. and the route we take varies from ride to ride. The last excursion was enormously successful. This month our ride will take place on Monday August 13th. Please join us!
