The Brian Moniz Band Heads to Kentucky!
August 22, 2007

Brian Moniz came by theOwen.com headquarters this afternoon to scoop up the last of his CDs in order to take them down south. He and his bandmates are heading to Covington Kentucky this weekend for the biggest gig of their lives.

The Free Concert For Peace is a concert organized by Thomas Floyd and endorsed by Neil Young, featuring artists who have had songs up on Neil’s Living With War Today website. Brian’s video for his song, “Ghosts of 9-11″ spent many months in the top ten on that site. This has led to Brian and his band receiving the closing spot at a concert that is expected to draw five thousand or more. The concert in Kentucky is being promoted on CLASS-X 88.9, an American radio station that covers three states. Here’s the audio from the radio plug.

Brian’s “Ghosts of 9-11″ track is becoming an anthem for the American anti-war effort. It even appeared for a time on the Washington Post’s website in a collection of music videos about America as seen by non-Americans. He is also to be found on Neil Young’s myspace site amoungst Neil’s top 8 friends!
Accompanying Brian in his trip down south will be bandmates Pete Devlin on lead guitar, Joel Morelli on lead and rhythm guitars , and Neil Towers on the drums. I will be joining them as well, though in the capacity of reporter rather than musician. I’m stoked!
We’ll be leaving on Friday August 24th at 4 pm, and I will be writing occasional updates as to how the trip is going, along with taking advantage of theOwen.com’s phone-in line [(519) 416-6936] to call in with some audio. Keep checking back with us for fresh updates on our traveling roadshow!
