Yes, there was an election..

October 12, 2007

Be sure that we are aware that an election happened earlier this week. That said I have been pondering the outcome and working to put together an appropriate summary and next steps article. Look for it here on the site early next week.

    Opportunity Lost…for now.

    The recent provincial election/referendum gave us the opportunity to make real and positive change. There were many of us here in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound who voted for such change, supporting Shane Jolley and the Green Party, and/or voting for MMP. At least we tried. Those who either did not vote or voted for Bill Murdoch and/or against MMP will have to live with the status quo, knowing that they had a hand in perpetuating a system that lots of us think is indeed broken and in dire need of repair. The dispassionate clock continually runs while our so called “leaders” dither with our future.

    Here in our neck of the woods we had a chance to elect a true leader, a man of hope and vision, whose ideas and energy would have brought much needed attention to critical issues. Instead we have more of the same old, same old. I ask you, what kind of positive change has Bill Murdoch brought to our region in the 17 years he’s been our MPP? And what ideas and vision will he put forth in the next 4 years? I hope the voters in our riding remember the squandered opportunity we had on October 10th when the next provincial election rolls around. We can only hope that when that time comes we’ll wake up and seize the day.
