It will be a busy Saturday Night

October 25, 2007

Pretty torn about what to do on Saturday night? I imagine a number of you may be in the same situation. Saturday evening seems like the date of choice for numerous Halloween gatherings this year. Where to go??? Hmmmm and what to wear??? Last year I went out as a compact fluorescent light bulb, which was funny, educational and royally a pain to move around. Trying to come up with a more relaxing outfit for this year. Hmmm??? Anyone else leave this to the last minute? For the undecided I have Nathan scouring the old Internet for good ideas.

Now, Halloween parties aside there are a number of other options for your Saturday night out. For starters you might want to check out the “Danse Macabre” at Mudtown Saturday night. More details about the event can be found in our original post here or you could check out the Feature article in Thursday’s Sun Times.

Saturday’s Danse Macabre at Mudtown Pottery is a “dark cabaret” for Halloween. As ringmaster Richardson will lead a crew of costumed musicians, dancers, a stilt walker and fire twirler Vita Bowen.

Richardson, on keyboards and noisemakers, Jonathan Cox, guitar, bass guitar and noise makers and Patrick Dorfman, guitar, noisemakers and power tools will recreate live his recorded music, some of it commissioned a year ago for a Halloween art show opening in London which also included circus performers. The show will run from 8-10 at Mudtown Pottery, with a $6 admission at the door, $5 if attend in costume. The timing of the show works out quite well for a busy Saturday night as you’ll still have time to hit your Halloween party of choice.

If you happen to be a little more folkie then your Saturday night might best be spent at the Knox Acoustic cafe. This Saturday night the featured act will be the Undesirables. I have seen this duo perform 5 times already this year and highly recommend you take the opportunity to check them out. To find out a little bit more about them you can listen to our interview with the guys after their Mudtown show earlier this year. If you haven’t yet attended a show at the Knox Acoustic Cafe it is also a worthwhile evening out on the town.

The following is a photo set shot at the last Knox Show featuring Guitarist Chuck Baker. A big thanks to Ange for the images.
