Continuing with our trend in trying to drum up as much conversation and collaboration as we can about the sustainable future or this community (or region…seeing how regional buy in seems to be a meme de jour) we’ve got a public speaker lined up for next Wednesday, the 24th of September. The event will be held in the United Way building at the corner of 4th ave and 9th street east. Start time is 7:00, The venue will hold 40 or so people and we expect a great turnout.
The details…
Our speaker is Chris Chopik, a Toronto realtor and sustainability guru (and an all round great guy am very glad to know!). Chris has been advocating on the part of the environment, community and sustainable lifestyles for years, especially as these concepts relate to your home. In addition to his realty practice, and the countless hours he devotes to a variety of green community initiatives, Chopik is currently travelling the province educating realtors about significance of the home to healthy and sustainable lifestyles.
As if that were’nt enough, he is adding to his Ontario speaking tour a series of Town Hall meetings in the communities he visits. The goal of these meetings is to inform, but more importantly to motivate and empower members of these communities to start local initiatives.
Listening to Chris and takign part in this Town Hall meeting may lead to:
- sweaty hands (a temporary condition brought on by awareness of what could but iss’nt occuring in most communities
- goosebumps (as people realize the potential ahead of us!)
- a desire to take action at home and in your community
