Groundbreaking Day!

Wiarton, On. May 29, 2009. On May 14, 2009, Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce broke ground on our 2009 Habitat for Humanity Home in Wiarton. This home is part of a 2 semi-detached build, “Four Homes for Four Families,” on Watson Street and Dawson Street in Wiarton. Alan MacDonald, Director of Construction Operations, will lead the way with our many volunteers. Site preparations have begun and the work will continue until October 2009. On Saturday, October 10, 2009, hundreds of volunteer builders will gather with us for a four-house dedication to christen the new neighbourhood. We hope everyone will come out to be a part of this great celebration!

We have the honour of building a home for Dave McManus and Jody Stott and their son, Penny Cutting and her 2 sons, Sarah Gibbons and her 3 daughters, and Todd Craig and his 3 daughters and 1 son. These families currently live in cramped apartments in Wiarton or a tiny mobile home, in a trailer park, just outside Owen Sound. These families have longed for a safe and affordable home of their own with more space, and in less than six months, their dream will become a reality.
