Dragon’s Den – Meaford Style

August 11, 2009

Look out CBC, Meaford is doing it’s own homegrown version of the very popular “Dragon’s Den” on October 21, 2009 at the Meaford Hall.

The Dragon’s Den is being presented by The Meaford & District Chamber of Commerce.

In a nutshell, 7 contestants will pitch their new business ideas to a panel of 5 Dragons in front of a live audience for criticism, compliments and hopefully some cold, hard cash. The Dragons are comprised of five local business people.

To participate, your submission must be handed in to the Meaford Chamber before September 15th at 4:30. (Submissions must include a one-page synopsis outlining their business idea, specifying how it relates to the Meaford Economic Development Strategy. You can pick up your applicant package at the Meaford Chamber office.) They’ll go through the sumbissions and selected applicants will be interviewd between September 28 – 30th. The finalists will be announced on October 5th.

So, Dragon’s Den should create a lot of buzz in the community and beyond. The Meaford Hall gets to showcase the event. And, great new business ideas will be unvailed. Sounds like a project to get excited about.

Recently we had the opportunity to talk to Jamie Pettit of the Meaford and District Chamber of Commerce. He told us all about it and how we can get involved.
