This weekend in Fishing
August 10, 2007
OK so we don’t actually know anything whatsoever about fishing, let alone this weekend in fishing. Is there a derby going on? What are the prizes to be had? What’s the biggest fish anyone has ever pulled out of Georgian Bay? Are there any local legends about 200 year old sturgeons weighing three tons and eating small dogs that swim too far from shore? Do sturgeons even swim around here? You see, we’re hopelessly fishing incompetent. WE NEED YOUR HELP!! You see this post? This could be your post, and it could have some actual information about This Weekend in Fishing! To make it happen, all you need to do is contact us! Happy fishing!
Where Do All the Injured Birds Go?
July 11, 2007
Today we had a tragic event here at theOwen.com. It has left us sad and wondering. Here’s the situation: an injured bird came hopping into our front foyer, chirping and hopping about in a very endearing fashion. Unable to fly, it staggered and flopped about. It was so helpless that I held it in my hands and stroked it’s head. I called the MNR (getting through to a living person was a bit of an ordeal lemme tell ya!) and asked them if they knew of someone in the area who cared for injured birds. The kindly-voiced woman who answered was sad to say that the closest place to the area that would rehabilitate such a lovable creature was located near Midland. Sad and bewildered, I gently placed the injured bird in our foyer and went to get some water for the helpless thing. When I returned the bird was nowhere to be found. I went out onto the street and there it was, hopping precariously amoungst the wheels of main street traffic. Before I could make a peep the worst of all possible outcomes happened right before my eyes.
The event led to the title of this article. Just where DO all the injured birds go? We’re putting out the call for a nurturing soul with a space and the know-how to care for birds who find themselves in this situation. If you are willing, or you know someone else who is willing to nurse injured birds to health, please let us know. With your permission we will send contact information on to the MNR so that if another bird or small creature gets hurt on anyone else’s watch the solution is a simple one. If you have any suggestions, please respond to this post by using the response option below, or else simply contact us. This afternoon’s encounter with a bird is a sad weight on my heart. Any suggestion you have to offer are appreciated.
Organic Soil in the Owen Sound Area
July 3, 2007
While I was out and about this morning someone asked if I happened to know of a supplier of local, organic soil. Off hand, I didn’t have the answer. But I said I would look into it.
In due time I am hopeful that answers to questions like this will be easily found in our Findit directory. That’s the plan anyway. While we work out the final details of the FindIt directory I thought I would use this space to pose the question.
Does anyone know where to find, local, organic soil for purchase?
I think we are talking in a volume required for some garden pots. If you have a thought add a comment to this post (it’s easy, just click the comments link below) or otherwise use the contact form and drop us a message.
