10th anniversary Owen Sound Celtic festival
August 11, 2008
| September 13, 2008 |
From the settling of The “Queens Bush” area, to modern day Owen Sound, one constant remains; the culture and heritage of celts who pioneered Grey Bruce Ontario. 2008 ushers us into our 10th year. Coming into our stride we want to expand our vision of a full arts festival in September, to include some year round events which promote the spoken word, painting, instrumental, vocal and dance arts of the celtic nations. We invite all those interested in perpetuating the continuance of the celtic arts, to come together in a series of smaller events held year round in our lovely Port City of Owen Sound.
Visit the Owen Sound Celtic Society for more details.

The Rocky Raccoon Café strengthens it reputation for innovative
entertainment by promoting two nights of concerts with Lauren Best.
“Since I arrived in Owen Sound, I have watched Lauren’s star rise”
said Robin Pradham, the owner of Rocky Raccoon. “The Rocky Raccoon is a
place for the community to come together. At such an important point
in a rising star’s career, the chance to host an event like this is a
once in a lifetime opportunity”.

Multi-instrumentalist and recording artist Brown has deep connections
to this area, having toured internationally with and been married to
Owen Sound’s Tommy Earlls, widely known for his big band, Tommy Earlls
and The International Untouchables.
The 6th will be a benefit ‘Concert for Sheatre with Lauren and
Friends’, featuring Liz Zetlin, original material by Tyler Wagler, and
multimedia from Sheatre’s past projects. Sheatre is a popular theatre
and community arts organization which “inspires creative expression and
transformative learning through workshops and artistic productions”.
